I'd like to migrate my system to Windows 8 as soon as it comes to me via MSDN in the next days. I plan to do a fresh install (already bought a bigger SSD :)).
When I migrated from Vista to WIN7, everything worked without problems, i.e. I had no driver problems and all my programs worked (and still work) ok with Windows 7. I hadn't time to try out the previews myself and I cannot spend much time in experimenting right now (i.e. if there are any bigger problems to expect, I would wait some weeks before installing).
In your opinion, can I expect a "smooth" transition like I had it from Vista to Win7 or will it be more likely like WinXP to Vista? (Note that I'm aware of the UI changes, I do not mind these...)
PS: One topic that is of special interest to me is using VMware Workstation 7 with Windows 8. I found a lot of posts that it's not possible to run WIN8 as a guest in WS7 but I didn't find any mentions of using Win8 as Host for vmware7.
