I'm trying to compare two folders and their content for changes. So natural choice is diff tool under mac.

I run this command:

diff -rq folder1 folder2

This outputs huge list of changes, and 99% of them are .DS_Store files. Obviously I don't want to consider these files. I want to pipe output into grep and using -v flag remove DS_store lines.

I run:

diff -rq folder1 folder2 | grep -vi ".DS_store"

But I get same output as before.

What am I doing wrong?
