I am looking for a screen capture tool, preferably a Chrome extension, that can take screen captures and optimizes the captured image for the web. I currently use other Chrome extensions for screenshots and another website to optimize and resize the large images but it would be time saving to have these features in one slick tool. I will be using this for blogging. Any ideas?

Knowing your OS would be great, and if you asked how to achieve what you want (e.g. creating a screenshot, and not a recommendation for a tool) you might get better answers. –  slhck Aug 8 '12 at 8:13
