Through Sun's VirutalBox, I have a Windows XP host OS. I have a Windows 7 guest OS. My laptop's sound system is using IDT Audio with physical mic and headphones jacks.

My guest OS acts like the mic is not picking up anything. The guest OS sees there is a microphone jack, but tests of it don't pick up any sound. Using the mic on the host works perfectly well.

My gut feeling is that the guest OS is not capturing the mic or Virtual Box is not passing the mic through to the guest OS.

Anyone else having this happen? Are there any ways I can look more deeply into VirtualBox to see what is captured and its devices? Any suggestions on how to further debug the issue?

thanks!
