So I'm using the motherboard: 'h8Dgi-f'.. Now, I plug the ATX power supply in, and the 'on switch' onto where it should be. I press on. The PSU fan goes on for a millisecond, then stops. Then I have to unplug it, wait 15 seconds, re-plug it in to the motherboard. I've tested this PSU on other machines and it works fine.
Before what happened: I put in the CPU, everything started to work, except for the screen - so i rebooted a couple of times. still didn't fix it. then I rebooted it again, and the fan randomly stopped.(PSU fan) and from previous experience I knew this was some sort of short circuit.. so I tried taking EVERYTHING out but the ATX powersupply, but it still flashes off when u turn it on. and when u wobble the ATX powersupply cable, the fan comes on, goes off, goes on, goes off very quickly.(so wobbling it resets it i guess) - BUT when you do that, smoke comes from the motherboard! right next to the 8pins next to 'JF1'
Does anybody know any way to get it to work again? I can provide more information if needed.
Thanks
EDIT: It's not completly gone, the 'UID' blue light works, and the 'wake on lan' flashes.. I just can't turn it on..
EDIT: So I've just tested the motherboard with a really old PSU, and no smoke at all. afaik, no short either. but the PSU is so old, the cables are like 1 inch long so I can't connect everything to test it.. it may be a coincidence, though.
