Our organization is a research company and does not allow any wireless device to access our intranet. But as a task in a research project, I need to access my web site residing in my desktop pc with my wireless mobile device. For this purpose, the management will allow us to connect our mobile to LAN. Of course, connecting the site through WAN (internet) is not an option. In this case, what do I need to achieve this?

I can buy a wireless router and connect it between LAN and the PC so it can act as a network switch for the pc. But how can I make the mobile device to be able to access the LAN through the wireless router? Any tip will be appreciated.

I'm a little confused. Is this more complicated than simply adding a wireless access point to the network? –  Tanner Aug 24 '12 at 17:05

@r.tanner.f I don't know as I have just experience with wireless router at home. Maybe you are right. Does it mean I can just connect a consumer wireless router to LAN and PC, and set a separate wireless network with the router? –  david Aug 24 '12 at 17:17

Do you need to isolate this phone from the rest of the network, or can it be on the network just like a computer? (This is a security decision, not what's possible vs what's not. It can be set up either way.) –  Tanner Aug 24 '12 at 17:21

@r.tanner.f I see. I don't think my phone should be on the network. I will be just happy to see my web site on my phone via LAN. –  david Aug 24 '12 at 17:31
