Now that my mid-tower's reboot pins are broken, I am primarily using my laptop. I've had success with Virtual Disc with a training video, but trying to run Neverwinter Nights from my virtual disk isn't working.

Does anyone have any ideas that can help? I'm on Windows XP Pro, SP3.

D: is the virtual Drive for NWN. I have two virtual drives.

The nwn.ini File:

He's asking about running a game on his COMPUTER, please relax. – th3dude19 Sep 25 at 15:08
Molly's response is disappointing since it is a PC application. A little too quick on the trigger, I fear. The game started to run off of the virtual disk this afternoon, after three days of fiddling with it. I must have held my tongue right! Thanks for all of the help! – Iric_S Sep 25 at 19:19

Some discs have copy-protection features that does not allow them to successfully run off virtual drives.

Your best-and-only-legal bet : fix your terminal up (and that will be another question on SU altogether.)

Try with Gamejackal from slysoft

It can emulate game copy protections, and NWN is old enough to be tricked by it, i think. It is not free, but the other choice is repairing your main computer

Assuming that you're using a legal copy of Neverwinter Nights, check out Game Copy World (www.gamecopyworld.com). They have no-cd patches that while not in accordance with most EULAs, will let you play your NWN without the disc. I don't know the EULA for NWN as I've never owned it, so check the legality first.

If this isn't allowed under the EULA, I'd go with Caliban's answer as I've used my laptop for a gaming machine in the past, and compared to my desktop, it's a real pain to use at times.
