I have firefox set to remember passwords. For one particular site I declined to have firefox remember the password in the past. I now want to have the password for that site remembered, so is there a way to get firefox to ask me again?

Edit: It turns out the site in question is somehow disabling that feature, so it doesn't ask.

From within Firefox click on

  • Tools (or press the alt key once on your keyboard to display it)
  • Options,
  • Security tab
  • Under passwords, click on Exceptions. Remove the site in question from this list.

I already looked there. It's not on the list. I don't think sites you say no to go in that list. I think that list is for sites you manually want to be exempt from the feature. –  MrVimes Sep 6 '12 at 8:37

Well, I'm going to look into this, but just as more options (for you or anyone else who reads this post) you can try addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/saved-password-editor –  Dave Rook Sep 6 '12 at 8:40

I also wonder if you have a bug. When you select do not save, it should list it in the excepts, as per the Mozilla site's Q & A support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/763967. And more details generally can be found here support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/… –  Dave Rook Sep 6 '12 at 8:42

Can you also click on saved passwords (in the same location). I wonder if it is in there which is why it isn't seeing it in the exceptions list but knows it's not to remember and has caused a conflict (ha ha, like this description). Any way, if it is in the saved passwords list, remove it there first and see what happens. –  Dave Rook Sep 6 '12 at 8:46

Just an additional comment, if the site is secure (https://) then it won't save the password. Also, some sites use javascript to prevent this (although I can't find the source now) –  Dave Rook Sep 6 '12 at 9:33
