I have had some experience with FruitLoops and other MOD track creation software in the past. However I haven't touched any of these products in years. I also cannot seem to find any recommendations from professional musicians.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend software to create music from scratch?

Whether opensource or not I don't mind. I'm looking for software that allows me to compose and produce electronic music, not for DJ performance purposes.

I am not much of a DJ, but a good program for cleaning up music or sounds in general is

Audacity

It's free and can export in a variety of sounds formats.
