Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

What network monitoring tool would you recommend that works as a service (and network filter) thus doesn't require any application in autorun and can count what remote host/port/protocol the current machine connected to and how much traffic was consumed/sent?

PS: it's for home usage, so I'm looking some simple tool of non-enterprise level (and price) ;-)

@tumchaaditya: seems like it doesn't provide that info –  zerkms Sep 7 '12 at 8:48

check this out:paessler.com/port_monitoring..they have a freeware version that works for 10 sensors(i don't know what that means). –  tumchaaditya Sep 7 '12 at 8:55

@tumchaaditya: yep, seen that and was expected it is tooo monstruous, but seems like there is no alternatives. So let give it a try, thanks :-) I'll report here about the results –  zerkms Sep 7 '12 at 9:04
