Is there an SSH client for Windows, that can be ran purely from the CL only? That is, I can launch it, and there will neither spawn a new command window nor will it launch an independent GUI. The SSH connection is handled in the original main command window.

Edit: does anyone know of such a CLI which runs inside the Windows command (cmd.exe) terminal window? That is, it doesn't launch a new or custom terminal window.

Cygwin allows a Windows version of OpenSSH to be installed.

Bitvise SSH Client includes this capability.

I've usually used plink for CLI SSH, it's part of the Putty suite and can take advantage of existing configuration.

It doesn't provide terminal emulation, however, so needs to be used with something like MinTTY or Cygwin/urxvt. –  grawity Sep 8 '12 at 21:56

You're right, for serious work you need a proper terminal emulation. I've mostly used plink to run one-off commands on remote systems, which it is well suited for. –  Thor Sep 8 '12 at 23:10

Credits to grawity for OpenSSH, there is also a standalone installer available for it which installs it with minimal Cygwin dependencies included:

Try SSHWindows. It allows command line SSH access via Windows.
