Are there any good event finder websites ? Like type in your location, and then it gives you some filter options, and then you get street fairs, or conventions, or music events? Usually I just comb through the local paper, but you have to mentally parse through all the junk and ads and whatnot.

Look for the website of the papers and see if they have an event section is probably your best bet for local ones. You could always go to Eventbrite and search by location. You should be able to see all the events (that are public) and use the Eventbrite System Also, try good old fashioned Google, type in " events", probably the best way to do it! | |||
