I selected a few important mails and mistakenly clicked on Archive.

I don't know where that mails are? Where can I find them?

I don't mean to come across as rude but I'm surprised someone who is computer-savvy enough to be installing the iPhone SDK on their Hackintosh (superuser.com/questions/47692/…) doesn't know how this fairly basic feature in Gmail works? – tjrobinson Sep 28 at 10:49
Yes ! your comment is great. But it is real, I didn't know about it. My work is mostly on development. So, I have never gone through all the options of gmail. You might be surprised but I started accessing my mail Account when I started Job. Because I have no net connection at home. So, its an obvious thing that I don't know about it. But I came to Know. & Will try to find out this kind of problems myself. – sagar Sep 29 at 14:52
You will be amazed to know that - before I started using gmail, I learned to use Stack Overflow & super user. Only for asking questions I came to know that, I need an account here. So I created it. – sagar Sep 29 at 23:17

You should almost always use Archive rather than Delete if you want to remove messages from your Inbox. GMail has a very large (and ever-increasing) storage capacity so you're better off never deleting anything and always having the ability to search for and retrieve messages later. – jwaddell Oct 2 at 1:05

In the left pane there should be an "All Mail" option. If there isn't, expand the down arrow that should say something like "6 more" (see screenshot below), and click All Mail. Select them and you can move them back to the inbox if desired.

Archive removes the label inbox on your mail, without any other labels on the mail it's possible to find under All Mail or via search (as already said). I don't agree that they 'go to All Mail' as all (except Trash and Spam I think) mail is always there.

At Gmail emails aren't located at places. Mails have labels and you can search based on labels.

In this case you can either search for the mail in question or click on all mails.

They go to All Mail. It should on the left side in the list under Compose Mail. Gmail changed some stuff around a while back so it might be hidden for you. If it is, click Settings (upper right corner), go to the Labels tab, and select which System labels you want to be displayed.

Don't worry about where they are, just search for them.

And, if you've not done anything else since mistakenly clicking "Archive", there's a bar at the top saying

Click the "undo" link there

If you have keyboard shortcuts enabled, "/" takes you to the search box, "z" is for undo.
