I tried with Windows 7 and Ubuntu and computer blocks while boot. The only way I can get to my hdd is by running a live Ubuntu usb (with nolaptic feature activated). I run a memtest and everything ok. So what could be broken? RAM, hdd (I copied all my files with no problem while on live usb)?

Edit:

I tried all classic windows features, repair, safe mode. It blocks during loading when Microsoft and the loading yellow lines appear at the bottom. With Ubuntu it blocks with the mauve screen. It did started out of the blue, no upgrades or software installs. But I had some problems with internet connection previously. The machine is a mini sony vaio.

If you hadn't been so short with your title and your question, I would have understood what you really are experiencing and could have helped by hinting you in the right way. But given that I don't know in which way it blocks or what you are seeing or whether you tried standard Windows restore / repair features, I can't help... – Tom Wijsman Sep 22 '12 at 22:47
What do you mean by trying Win7 and Ubuntu? What shows up before and when the blocking happens? Is there perhaps some text somewhere? You say a live disk is the only way you can access your hdd, what else did you try? What happened then? – Eroen Sep 22 '12 at 22:59
Did this just start happening out of the blue? Did you update the BIOS or change any BIOS settings? If this is an Asus machine, try this: In the BIOS see if there is a Security option with I/O Interface Security option inside. Under that if you see New interface card or similar, set its state to Locked. Reboot and see if it helped. (Posted as answer earlier by mistake, re-posting as comment.) – Karan Sep 22 '12 at 23:19
I updated my question with edit: There is no I/O Interface Security – Claudiu Sep 22 '12 at 23:20
