I m new to the ubuntu and got a friend server on which i whould Like to install git-core. but since jaunty is EOL already. there is no packages available for the same, so I guess deb file will make the job easier for me without breaking anything.

...server...is EOL... That's a mix that doesn't go down well, especially if the server is connected to the Internet. Consider upgrading to at least 10.04LTS. – Bobby Oct 3 '12 at 9:03
