I'm using Windows Server 2008 for HFT trading, which means that every 0.1 ms is important.

Is it possible that Windows Server 2012 will be faster than 2008 (in particular, was the TCP/IP stack rewritten/optimized?)

I'm wondering if I should try to upgrade.

You shouldn't be wondering if you should upgrade. You should be setting up a realistic test environment and testing whether it works better or not for your very specific use case. – Mat Oct 13 '12 at 8:23
@Mat of course I should. but sometimes I should do other things that are more important. i don't ask if 2012 will be faster than 2008. i ask if it is possible that 2012 will be faster than 2008? probably someone already did test like that and can share his experience. – javapowered Oct 13 '12 at 11:25
