I have installed Virtual PC on my machine but Windows Server 2008 R2 will not install on the virtual pc.

I have tried installing 2008 R2 on a actual machine and it works. Please Help.

What kind of errors do you get? What happens when it doesn't work? How do you install it, using an image file or a physical drive? Is 'Virtual PC' Microsoft's Virtual PC? – Henning Klevjer Oct 22 '12 at 8:54

Microsoft Virtual PC supports only x86 (32 bit) operating systems. Windows 2008 R2 is a x64 (64 bit) bit OS. x86 variant of Windows 3008 R2 is not available.

See supported OS list: enter image description here

Instead of Virtual PC, consider using VirtualBox or VMware player to run Windows 2008 R2 on a x64 OS running on x64 compatible hardware.

This answer is incorrect. Windows Virtual PC DOES support x64 guest operating systems. Virtual PC 2007 does not support them. Windows Virtual PC is the built in feature within Windows 7. Virtual PC 2007 is a seperate stand-alone application. – Ramhound Oct 22 '12 at 11:25
