I have an old Dell Dimension 47000 that will not boot up.

When I push the button to turn the machine on it begins the start up process but, after a few minutes of trying to boot up, it eventually shuts itself off. The machine worked fine one day and then the next this problem appeared.

Any suggestions?

Can you try a Linux LiveCD/USB and see if it boots up? – Karan Oct 23 '12 at 15:25
Can you be more specific? Details help us help you. What OS is trying to boot? How far does it get in the boot process? Is there any error messages or BSOD? Will it boot in Safe Mode? – CharlieRB Oct 23 '12 at 15:25
