It's proven that there is a number of officially announced bare Windows 8 (Windows 8 Core) editions:

  • Windows 8 Core
  • Windows 8 Core N (proof: EU commission ruling)
  • Windows 8 Core China Edition (confirmed by Steve Guggenheimer)

Possibly there might exist:

  • Windows 8 Core Single Country
  • Windows 8 Core Single Language

Please describe, what limitations do different editions have (e.g no MUI, activation issues etc.)?

Windows 8 and Windows 8 N are the only two "Windows 8 Core" products. Your question is based on to much theory, the number of editions of Windows 8, is on the Microsoft website. – Ramhound Oct 30 '12 at 14:10

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

Yes there is a small subset of W8 licensing that is local language only For China and emerging markets.

For China and a small set of select emerging markets, we will offer a local language-only edition of Windows 8.
