I'm looking for a small and affordable IP KVM solution for a small lab with about 10 computers. There are a lot of IP KVM switches on the market, but I need standalone separate devices. They do not need to be datacenter-ready, but it should allow me to control a PC (VGA display and mouse/keyboard) over IP.

IP KVM switches are pretty expensive; but as I need it only for a lab I need something pretty cheap.

I never found a hardware solution which was 'pretty cheap'. Extra ILO or DRAC cards on server hardware is 200+ euro per computer (and you need proper motherboards for that). Which leaves software solutions as the cheap answer. (Think VNC and co). But that will allow you to manage the computer once it is up and works. Not while it still is in the BIOS, not if it crashed, ... – Hennes Oct 30 '12 at 14:26
