I've managed to sync my Google calendar and it shows up perfectly fine in Windows 8 through Exchange server sync. However, any events I create in the Windows calendar app are synced with the Live account and not sent to Google calendar.

Is there any way to sync calendar events two-way between Windows 8 and Google - without probably unlinking the whole Windows user account from Live (and leaving the Google Exchange as the only sync account)?

A similar question was marked a duplicate of a thread about multiple Google calendars. It is not remotely the same thing - I don't care if only the main calendar is synced, as long as the tasks are both downloaded AND uploaded.

This might be a stupid question, but are you sure you are selecting one of your Google calendars to save to when you are creating an event? I created an event in Windows 8 and saw it on my Google calendar right away. – cowgod Nov 1 '12 at 21:09
Oh my God, this is embarrassing. Just when you mentioned it I double-checked the create event screen and noticed that you can pick the calendar account. I guess this solves my problem, thanks a bunch – JarasM Nov 1 '12 at 21:16
