I have a Windows 7 DVD that can't boot, how do I install without having a previous version of Windows?

UPDATE:

I have checked the boot order, I am trying to install it in a virtual machine, the DVD was downloaded from a torrent...

What virtual machine are you using? VirtualBox, VMWare, Virtual Machine? – David Pearce Oct 3 '09 at 1:56
VMWare, and it seems to be loading the ISO, i think it may be corrupt!!! – Luiscencio Oct 5 '09 at 16:28

Why can't it boot? I think you need to solve that problem first. If you'd rather not you can install it from a flash drive by following the instruction here http://kmwoley.com/blog/?p=345 I have done this personally and it works flawlessly on a Lenovo X60

A windows 7 dvd that can't boot is not a Windows 7 dvd, or is corrupted.
So there's no problem - just get yourself another Win7 dvd.

YOu can install it from your USB Disk if you have an iso image or dvd of the OS.Use Win2Flash software on http://wintoflash.com/download/en/ to download the tool for doing the transfer from iso/dvd to your flash disk. After completing transfer by using Win2Flash,set your bios to enable usb boot and boot from usb on next restart...Attention..!--> It formats your flash disk before transfer...That's all...

If you're using VirtualPC, and you downloaded the DVD as an iso, you can mount the iso and restart the VM.

In the majority of virtual machine software, you can choose an .iso image for the target of the CD drive.

If you are using VMWare (Workstation or Server), try following these steps:

  1. In VMware, go to the VM menu, then Settings. In the box that just popped up, click CD/DVD drive

  2. From here, make sure Connect at power on is enabled, as is Use ISO image

  3. Click the Browse button, and browse to and select the Windows 7 .iso file
