Recently, on my Win7 x64 Dell, the majority of my desktop icons have black boxes covering them. The recycle bin alone seems to be immune to the black box.

Via a Google search I learned to go to the desktop, right click, click on personalize, then display and change display from small to medium. I then have to log out, log back in and repeat the process changing display from medium to small (and log out, log in). The black boxes are then gone. Gone that is, until I reboot.

While treating the symptom works, I would rather fix the cause. Does anyone have any ideas? (Deleting iconcache.db is of no help).
