New Make User Organization on Lion?

I have a question on windows I had a folder called data and within it I had a number of subfolders, excil, word, ppt...

Now moving to the Mac in looks like I should not make subfolders under my documents folders is this true or should I make subfolders

Why shouldn't you make subfolders? You're free to organize your data however you feel like. Whatever's best for you. Create folders or simply put everything in one and use search. Of course, it's reasonable to at least put it in your home folder or Documents. – slhck♦ Nov 15 '12 at 19:46
