I need a system (hopefully not too expensive) for the school where I work that meets the following requirement - some kind of system where a teacher can send a message (internally) to the relevant designated staff member and the school's director (such as a maintenance or repair request) which is logged and can be monitored for progress / completion. Does anyone know of such a thing?

I've looked at http://www.bitrix24.com/ and I quite like it, though it is not exactly what I'm after, and very pricy for a small international school in a third-world country.

The smells the slightest bit like - but I'm guessing that your generic issue ticketing system should do the trick. The package that @maqleod suggested seems pretty good – Journeyman Geek Nov 22 '12 at 8:48
Is this an advert ? Sorry, but the fact the basic is free and you say it's too pricy sounds like nonsense. – Dave Rook Nov 22 '12 at 14:37
Dave, the basic is free, but for only 12 users, for the number of users we need we'd have to pay for the full service... – David Moody Nov 23 '12 at 1:31
