Possible Duplicate:
Is there a text editor for very big files?

I need to find a text editor that can replace a regex in a 250MB file without crashing. I tried:

  • EditPadPro
  • NotePad++

Is there any text editor that I could try?

sed? Stream editor, sounds like file size should not be a problem. I am not sure if cygwin provides it though –  Karthik T Dec 4 '12 at 1:38

Try sed. Because it doesn't have to hold the entire file in memory, it just operates on the text as it goes by, it won't have a limit.

You can try if any of the recommendations in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/159521/text-editor-to-open-big-giant-huge-large-text-files support what you want. I expect you should find something.
