Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am not a computer guy but an end user. I use Linux mint and Windows-7 ultimate on different machines.

The fantastic thing of the Linux is that other users can not even see / edit/delete / install / uninstall or any thing like that. But where as in Windows every thing above is possible!

I need the security as good as Linux free OS, is it possible to do that.

This is an opinion based question, so it is likely to be closed unless it is reworded (it is also a shopping recommendation, which you could do away with) - also, I am not quite sure what your question is - you want a linux distro that is as secure as Windows? They are pretty even from what I have heard / read, each has advantages and disadvantages. – ekaj Dec 6 '12 at 6:01

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

Well, I don't know how secure Linux Mint is out of the box, but, you do you realise that you don't have to make users an administrator when you create a new user in Windows?

In addition, you have the option to make documents private - meaning they will not show up to other users.

In short, yes you can do what you ask about.
