I have just bought a Sandisk Extreme 240GB SSD and installed it into my dell studio 1458 laptop.

The bios recognizes it, but when I insert the windows 7 dvd, it doesnt boot. I selected to boot from the dvd, but nothing happens...

I dont know what to do... this never happened to me with my normal HDD.

I would really appreciate any help on this.

Try a USB source instead (you can transfer the DVD's contents to USB using this). Also see if a Linux LiveCD/USB boots properly. – Karan Dec 15 '12 at 3:10
