My Acer aspire laptop suddenly stopped working while it was connected to my Nokia mobile modem through USB. It stopped with power switch staying on and no response to clicking off, no irregular sound, nothing but a blank screen.

I disconnected the power and battery quickly but power switch did not respond at all and even the power indicator didn't turn on again. the display was also gone after disconnecting the power and removing battery.
It has no response or any sign of power while both battery and power supply are working. What do you think? A completely dead motherboard (MB)? Does the MB has any safety board or fuse that could be replaced? Any suggestion will be appreciated,
Thank you.

What happens if you plug the laptop on without the battery (eg, plug the power cable in but leave the battery out)? Does this give any response? The fact there is no response suggests initially it is a power issue (or a short!) – Dave Dec 17 '12 at 9:08
Thanks Dave, I have tried that already but it didn't respond. – mazda Dec 17 '12 at 17:39
When on charge, does the laptop led light come on to indicate it is plugged in? – Dave Dec 17 '12 at 20:20
