The processor is a 2.26Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, and it currently has 2GB of 1067MHz DDR3 installed. When I install the two 4GB sticks, it begins beeping and will not boot. I learned that the RAM will downclock to a lower speed when installed in a model that doesn't support the maximum speed, so why isn't it working? I have tried just using 1 stick, mixing and matching, etc.

Does your macbook pro works with only 1 of the 4G stick you bought? –  John Siu Dec 18 '12 at 5:09
Look up the beep codes. –  ekaj Dec 18 '12 at 6:36
