My recent Desktop has gotten very old and is not supporting most of my online games , so i was thinking of buying a new motherboard , RAM and a processor to replace the older ones.

I would like to know if the following Motherboard and Processor would be compatible with each other :

Processor

Intel® Celeron® Processor G530 (2M Cache, 2.40 GHz)

Motherboard

Intel® Desktop Board DH61HO

And if I could use this RAM on the following motherboard/processor :

Corsair DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMV4GX3M1A1333C9)

And if anyone could tell me if these would be good enough to play games smoothly.(This part does not HAVE to be answered)

I would really appreciate a reply and I apologize if anything was obvious and i could not make out as I am not very good with computer and hardwares.

Instead of getting one 4GB stick of RAM, you should get two 2GB sticks (or if you can afford, even two 4GB sticks). That motherboard has dual-channel memory, but it is only used if you use more than 1 memory module. Now the amount of performance it would grant is dependent on the processor, so in your case it may or may not add a lot, but it's something to consider! – Chris Stauffer Dec 27 '12 at 16:24

Celeron cpu s are the low end of the budget scale, and won't play many games, if any at all. As for compatibility, the ram will work with the motherboard, and you just need to make sure the cpu is a socket 1155

Thank you for the reply and I am on a low budget on this desktop as I would be planning to buy a laptop next month or so and would not want to spend much on this. My friend told my to try this processor but I would like to ask you guys first if it would be better than the current one and be able to handle decent gaming. Intel® Pentium® Processor G630 (3M Cache, 2.70 GHz) – Dhruv Dec 27 '12 at 16:07
You may want to check out a processor ranking/comparison site before purchasing. I suggest cpubenchmark.net but there are others out there too. This one lets you search for yours, so you can see it's ranking compared with just about any other processor, but it also gives a rough ranking of "power per cost" which may be helpful in building your budget rig. – techturtle Dec 27 '12 at 16:14

For memory check: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dh61ho/sb/CS-033353.htm These should work always, while most other memory that is NOT total scrap will work ALMOST always.

For cpu check: http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?BoardName=DH61HO OF COURSE the G530 is supported ;)

About games: You will be able to play SOME games smoothly. Depending on game and monitor resolution. If you want to play on higher resolutions, you probably need a good graphics card, because the built in graphics (intel HD graphics) is perfect for office work, but can hardly handle ANY halfway decent 3D game. Given the chosen hardware, you are most likely on a tight budget and gaming is NOT a priority? In that case even an entry card (50 $/€) will be much better than the built-in graphics
