I am getting a 503 error trying to access some of google services such as reader, and I can't access the images found in the google image search - getting the same 503 error

503. That’s an error.

The service you requested is not available at this time.

Service error -27. That’s all we know.

I've found this page but I'm not sure its relevant. I've checked my netstat, and I don't have anything using port 8080.

This happens only on chrome, on firefox it is fine.

my extensions are: bitly, couponshelper, ghostery, google mail checker, google quick scroll, google share button, rails panel, seo for chrome, set image as wallpaper, site geo ip locator, stumbleupon, tab organizer, tabs saver, wot

any ideas?

What happens if you disable all extensions on Chrome, does the issue persist? – Dave Jan 9 '13 at 11:18
are you behind a corporate firewall? – booyaa Jan 9 '13 at 16:48
extensions don't seem to matter, no corperate FW, personal FW. but it all worked fine yesterday. Just this morning.. – Nick Ginanto Jan 9 '13 at 16:50

it seems like Google resolved the issue itself. I was having the same problem all day long, but not anymore
