I just got a new custom PC running Windows 7 Professional. I'm connected to my monitor by DisplayPort, and the monitor has a headphone jack for sound from the DisplayPort signal. The computer also has jacks for headphones, mic and surround (all 3.5 jacks).

So here's my problem: I can go into the Sound settings in Control Panel and set the monitor as the Default playback device. If I do, then I get sound from the monitor headphone jack. Unfortunately, then the headphone/mic jack on the computer doesn't work (well, it just doesn't output sound). If I set the computer VIA on-board audio device as the default playback device, then all the sound jacks on the motherboard work but the monitor headphone jack doesn't work.

Is there a way to make them both work without me having to mess with the Control Panel settings each time?
