I suspect my Tivo and Sony Bluray aren't symbiotic on my home network. I couldn't locate a better site to post this question/dilemna, so please let me know if this type of question doesn't belong on superuser's forums.
Here's my configuration: SB6121 Docsis 3.0 Modem WRT54G flashed with DD-WRT Firmware and functioning as an Access Point Tivo Series2 with a USB connection to a Linksys ethernet/USB adapter (connected to the AP) WRT54G flashed with DD-WRT as a Client Bridge (downstairs to provide internet access to Sony Bluray BDP-S270)
Additional Information: My downstairs laptop has a very stable connection and the Client Bridge (configured with a 10.0.0.1 IP address) should have an equally stable connection The AP is configured with an IP of 192.168.1.1 (default) The Client Bridge connects and bridges the connection to the Sony Bluray BDP-S270, and allows me to stream HD video (via amazon's prime instant video built in to the bluray interface)... for a little while
Problem: After beginning to stream video on the Bluray player for a little while, it stops and says the "Network is down".. "Try again?". Now, it seems like this happens close to the turn of the hour on the hour which is when I suspect the Tivo is querying to retrieve the latest TV Guide listings.
Troubleshooting: Ensured all devices connect, at least temporarily. Laptops rarely, if ever, require troubleshooting network connectivity. Primary problem is Sony stopping streaming video with a pop-up message "Network Down. Error occured", and likewise on the Tivo itself "DHCP Server appears to be down"...
Possible troubleshooting steps I can do: 1) Disconnect Tivo and monitor the Bluray streaming video for at least an hour to see if error occurs 2) Vice-versa disconnect the Bluray and monitor the Tivo for network errors 3) Change the client bridge's IP from 10.0.0.X to 192.168.1.X (the AP upstairs is 192.168.1.1) 4) Log in to the DD-WRT management console and do diagnostics there
Any ideas or suggestions much appreciated...
