I am not very computer literate. When I enter the Windows Vista recovery disc, I get that the drive must be formatted for NTFS. I have no idea how to do this. With Ubuntu, I do not even have the start feature to go into programs. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Installer should provide an option to format the HDD selected so Windows can be installed. –  Ramhound Jan 18 '13 at 17:18

By your own admittance, you are not very good with this stuff. It might be a good idea to get some experienced help before you lose all your data on the hard drive. If you don't care if the hard drive gets wiped and reformatted, then by all means proceed as it is a great learning experience. –  CharlieRB Jan 18 '13 at 18:17
