I have a Toshiba Windows XP laptop, its been away for a long time but i've recently wanted to use it. When I try to connect it to the internet only thing that shows up is hpsetup.

I have a router and other devices can connect but my laptop wont. I've tried connecting to the hpsetup but it wont even connect. The network provider we have is netgear. Can netgear not provide for my laptop?

Please help.

Are you sure that your wireless controller is turned on? Have you tried connecting your laptop directly to the router? hpsetup is not used to connect to a wireless network. Here's a link to another thread on SU SE with more information. – dinesh Jan 26 '13 at 0:45
I tried to connect it to my router and nothing is registering, Anything else? – user192913 Jan 26 '13 at 1:40
You didn't mention if/what security your Netgear wireless router is using. If its wpa2, Windows XP doesn't support it by default. It needs to manually install some updates and potentially a new wireless card driver, for wpa2. I assume hpsetup is another wireless router in your area that you don't have a password to access? – jdh Jan 26 '13 at 4:33
