Have I hit a button that is causing the titled problem? I recently lost my 23 year old daughter and I desperately need to write using wordpad. I am a doomed, computer stupid old mother who is about to lose my mind. Thank you for helping me.

Could you describe exactly what your problem is? You hit backspace, and then... I'm not sure what you're having trouble doing. – Marcus Chan Jan 28 '13 at 3:22
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but here's a work around. Just position the cursor just before the last letter you've typed and then type it again and whatever else you need to type. When you're done, delete the extra letter. Hope that helps. Better yet, hope Word has found its mind again, so you don't lose yours. Take care. – burrowsrjl Jan 29 '13 at 7:27
