I tried to fix my grandparent's Lenovo Ideapad U460. The screen started flashing when we're trying to use it. But I can temporarily fix the flashing problem by adjusting the brightness of the screen (by pressing Fn + "a bright sun"). But it then dims back down to about 50% brightness then it starts flashing again. I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, but I'm not ruling out software problem either because the laptop has a lot of ad-wares installed... Would you please point out the problem? I'm hoping to help them fix it. Thanks!

@mdpc thanks mdpc, are you able to pinpoint the problem more spacifically? im hoping it fix it for them. thanks! – user22105 Feb 4 at 3:09
From your video, it looks to me like the inverter for the backlight is going out. That would be hardware, and not really an easy fix. Because the backlight can be controlled by software, that is still a possibility, but I wouldn't be able to offer any suggestion other than a full format and reinstall. – techturtle Feb 4 at 4:15
I think it sounds like an inverter problem, and they are not that expensive in my experience. It was a few years ago but I got one fixed for around 25 dollars (in Toronto). – Xavierjazz Feb 4 at 6:41
