I've recently upgraded my OS to Kubuntu 12.04 and upgraded LibreOffice to the latest Linux version (3.5.4.2). I use modified toolbars in both Writer and Calc, so I've changed them in both applications. I've done this numerous times in the past, on various predecessor versions of Kubuntu and LibreOffice (and it's ancestor, OpenOffice) without problem, but this time -- problem:

The toolbars insist on being one icon too short. No matter how many or how few icons I have in the Standard toolbar (and having NO other toolbars open), the last icon is always hidden, despite there being ample space on the screen for it.

Yes, I can work around this by simply adding an unwanted icon at the end -- this unwanted one is the one hidden and all the ones I've invited to the party show up. But this is inelegant and I'd really like to know (a) why this version of LibreOffice on this version of Kubuntu is misbehaving, and (b) how to fix it.

Any ideas where I should look?
