My Wifes company uses AEP Port forwarder (Netilla) which is no longer supported and with more recent versions of Java it seem unable to download the .JAR/.ZIP files it uses. By installing an old version of Java on a different PC I was able to get these to load into the cache and from there transfer them to the lib\ext folder so they were always available (more info here http://msitekkie.wordpress.com/).
With the latest update (1.7.0_13) I now get Security Exception "Bad Applet Class name" and I understand it is actually bad practice to put applets in this folder so presumably this is now blocked deliberately.
My question is where else can I put the 2 files pfwd.zip & qtjava.jar so that they will be found? Is there a simple method to manually load them properly into the cache for example? (it looks like the cache is indexed). Or even better does anybody know how to resolve the original problem? I'm not a Java programmer.
I don't really want to revert to an older/insecure version of Java but this is preventing my wife working from home.
