I'm trying to repair my Windows 8 EFI bootloader (after I set up Ubuntu, Windows won't boot ... I believe the main Windows partition is fine but the Windows bootloader files on the EFI partition have disappeared).

So, I'm booting from the USB recovery drive that I made. When I run the console from there, diskpart only sees the thumb drive ... not the hard drive I want to repair. I'm not sure how to proceed or what to check at this point.

Do you use Bitlocker or Secure Boot? – magicandre1981 Feb 14 '13 at 5:05

No. I turned Secure Boot off in case that caused problems for Ubuntu. I don't use Bitlocker. – user198095 Feb 14 '13 at 17:23
