I had deleted some of my important .xlsx files accidentally. Finally, I recovered these files withe help of "Recuva". But while trying to open any of these files, file is not opening and showing a message as Excel cannot open the file 'abc.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid.

I tried to open these files with excel "Open & Repoair" option but no luck found.

I am using Windows8-64. Can anybody help me.

Mmm - if the file is corrupt, it'll be hard to get it back working. :-( Normally, Libre Office's Calc is really good at reading Excel files, even if Excel fails - from there you can save it again. Give it a try! – Peter Albert Feb 22 '13 at 9:00
You can try other data recovery programs, but if parts of the file have been overwritten and are unrecoverable, the file will be corrupt and it will be difficult (if not impossible) to salvage any useful data from it. – Karan Feb 22 '13 at 18:03
