How can I configure Wicd network manager to configure a PPTP VPN connection (or any type of VPN connection for that matter)? I am using Salix 14 if that matters to anyone, though that has nothing to do with the issue. It is not obvious to me at all how to set up a VPN using Wicd.

Wicd does not support VPN currently. You can try using NetworkManager for configuring a PPTP VPN connection. Along with that, you'll need PPTP Client and NetworkManager-pptp.

I don't know anything specific about Salix 14, other than it being based on and compatible with Slackware. In that case, these should downloads should work.

(You may already have NetworkManager included with Salix 14).

PPTP Client and NetworkManager-pptp are here.
