I'm running a pretty dated Mac but its what I have and can't afford throwing hardware at the issue.

I am on Mac 10.6.8

Suddenly Terminal says

Terminal has detected the system is running low on swap space. Scrollback buffers may be automatically trimmed to conserve memory.

And then my Mac is suddenly telling me that I am out of space.

When I open Macintosh HD info the Available Space is going a little crazy. One second it says ~56gb then 80gb. I did Mac Utility Erase Free Space then restarted and still happening.
