I recently ran into a very weird problem. I have to work frequently with PDF documents that contain non-standard and non-free fonts. For that reason, I do have a very large library of fonts and most of the time, I do have the required font.
However, sometimes, even though the font is installed, Adobe Illustrator tells me that it's missing. I've found that this must be somehow related to the exact font name/version/XUID, but instead of dealing with the hassle, I usually just uninstall the font in question, extract the version from the file and install that one.
Yesterday, I ran into a very weird issue. The same situation, and the first thing that was weird was that it extracted two fonts with the same name from the PDF. This sometimes happens when they embed only partial fonts, but no - they were both the complete font set. What also happened is that, even after trying with both extracted version, Adobe Illustrator would still say that the font is missing.
Do you have any idea how to deal with this?
I already tried uninstalling the font, clearing both Windows & Adobe font cache, rebooting and reinstalling the extracted font. No luck, either.
