I have an SMB share that both Windows and Mac Active Directory clients (under Win2008) connect to.
All is working well, but the presence of system files from the non-active operating system (i.e. mac ._ files on Windows or $RECYCLE.BIN on mac) is very frustrating.
While I'd like to get rid of the files entirely, I appreciate the benefits of a network recycle bin and the extra attributes etc I get on the mac by leaving them present. Therefore, I'm looking for a way to simply hide the files.
For the Windows side, can I set a group policy rule to hide files prefixed with a '.' somehow?
From the Mac side, I think I may have it working by excluding "desktop.ini" and "$RECYCLE.BIN" in the mobile account sync settings - though I don't know if there are other files likely to crop up, or if there's a better way I can do this.
Any suggestions gratefully received!
