During a Windows Update, power to the laptop (Gateway NE56R10u) was lost. When turned on again, it restarted in some flavor of Safe Mode. After a System Restore everything seems to be working properly EXCEPT the touch pad.
Troubleshooting Steps (none have worked): - Checking that the Device Status says 'working properly' - Toggling it to be enabled/disabled - Restarting in Safe Mode - Installing (what I assume is) the latest driver from support.gateway.com
Notes on installing the driver: - There are 2 drivers listed for ELAN, I chose the higher version (not sure why there are 2 in the first place...?) - I did not uninstall the current driver - After downloading the 180MB zip (is it just me, or is that EXTREMELY large?), I simply ran the Setup file rather than going into the Device and choosing Update Driver - After installation, a reboot was of course required
I'm not sure what to try next, but I'm running out of ideas. Any suggestions?
