I had windows 8 and then I installed Linux Mint, after the 2-nd restart the pc wouldn't start.

When I press the power on button, the Dell logo appears and it freezes. At the bottom of the screen are two options:

  1. Press F2 for bios menu
  2. Press F12 for boot order

Whatever I press it just highlights the choice but it never does anything. When I press other buttons it does nothing, not a beep. Also when I press ESC the screen goes black, no message at all. The fans are spinning all the time, that surprises me. I don't know what to do

Please give us some more information. What happens when you turn on the machine? Any beeps? Do any lights turn on? Any sound at all? Can you hear the fans spinning? The hard drives? Is the screen blank or is a message shown? –  terdon Mar 23 '13 at 14:13
