Hello fellow superusers,
I have my asus k53sv notebook since ~ 1 year and had to fix a simmilar kind of FPS drops in games when I first got it. The fix then was starting throttlestop before playing, and it worked fine.
Now however I think it has to be something else. It kind of feels the same, but I have Throttlestop running while gaming.
I can't believe it hast to do with temperatures at all, because if I run prime95 / FurMark (without Throttlestop) instead of a game the temperatures rise to almost 100°C, but no throttling occurs.
The GPU usage in games (Arma3/Arma2/Dota2/CSS/CSGO) is fine for like 5 minutes but then it starts to switch between running nice and fluent and crazy lagging.
I have screenshotted some graphs visualize the temperatures / gpu usage. Green/Red/Blue are cpu cores / package Light Blue is the GPU
In the pictures you can clearly see the spikes. The fan however runs at the same speed all the time.
Shots taken from open hardware monitor and MSI afterburner.
Has someone any clue? Or directions for me to further investigate? How can I check, if it is a hardware issue?
I know 100°C is not good, but the i5 and the gt 540m are capable of 105°C from what i read, so I guess I have to live with that kind of temps.
