I have a file called hosts located at:

I want to create two partial file of a single one. So that, I can add my entries each time to a new file without having to touch the original one each time. So, is it possible to do so. If yes, How?

Do you have a DNS server in your network? – Havenard Apr 4 '13 at 15:52
Windows will only look for the hosts file in that folder, so there is no point in having another hosts file somewhere else. – Pincopallino Apr 4 '13 at 15:59
What you want is not possible. The hosts file is not effective if there are hundreds or thousands of entries. A large hosts file can effect system performance. – Ramhound Apr 4 '13 at 16:47
Sounds like the fundamental question is "does the file system support partial files?" Using "partial" in this sense. – Louis Apr 4 '13 at 17:34
Why don't you want to modify it? – Bigbio2002 Apr 4 '13 at 18:18
